How offline sync keeps every device in step

Explainer | 19 Sep 2026 | 1 min read

In many schools, one teacher marks on a phone while another uses the school computer. The records must come together without one device overwriting another.

Merging, not replacing

When two devices sync, Smart School App compares them record by record. The most recent change to each record wins, and records that exist on only one device are kept. Nothing is deleted just because another device has not seen it yet.

Three ways to sync

  • Over the school Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot, with no internet
  • Through a USB drive or folder backup
  • Online through Smart School Cloud, when a connection is available

Whichever way is used, run the same app version on every device so merges behave the same everywhere.
